Julius Winfield “Dr. J” Erving II, known for his signature “slam” dunk, was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993 and was also named to the NBA’s 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. He won three championships, four Most Valuable Player awards, and three scoring titles with the ABA’s Virginia Squires and New York Nets and the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers. In the 76ers’ 1982-83 season, Erving and Moses Malone became one of the most formidable and unstoppable center-forward combinations of all time as the Sixers dominated the whole season and eventually claimed the 1983 NBA title by sweeping the Los Angeles Lakers.

This white knit mesh Wilson Philadelphia 76ers home jersey was worn by Dr. J during the 1979-86 seasons where the Sixers were perennial title contenders. This size 40 jersey features “SIXERS” and his famous number “6” sewn on across the front in blue on red tackle twill. The collar and sleeve openings have a ribbed red, white and blue pattern. The Wilson tag is sewn on the bottom front left tail. The back of the jersey has “ERVING” sewn on in blue tackle twill above his number “6”, which is sewn on in blue on red tackle twill. The jersey shows light wear with some staining on the front right side. The jersey presents in an off-white color due to its age and is a great item from one of basketball’s greatest players during Philadelphia’s era of dominance in the Eastern Conference. This game used jersey comes with a full LOA from Mears, who have graded this jersey an A7.
