The 1979 Reds were the final iteration of the feared and renowned “Big Red Machine.” From 1970 to 1979, the Reds won two World Series and four National League pennants behind the hitting of Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, Tony Perez, George Foster, and a fearsome supporting cast of hitters throughout the decade. The 1979 edition of the Reds were the first without all-time hit leader Pete Rose. They managed to get to the National League Championship series, where they lost to their bitter rivals, the Pittsburgh Pirates.

This Official National League Charles S. Feeney baseball was signed by 26 members of the Reds, including manager John McNamara. McNamara and Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench signed the sweet spot of this ball. Other signatures include Hall of Famers Tom Seaver and Joe Morgan, as well as George Foster, Ray Knight, Cesar Geronimo, Dave Concepcion, Dan Driessen, Junior Kennedy, Paul Moskau, and many others. The signatures are all written in black ballpoint pen. This item has been pre-certified by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
