No third baseman completely dominated his era than Mike Schmidt. From 1974 to 1986 Schmidt led the NL in home runs 8 times and won 10 Gold Glove Awards. No third baseman before or after Schmidt brought his combination of defense and offense to the position. In 1979 Schmidt clubbed 45 home runs, breaking the club record set by Chuck Klein back in 1929. He also knocked in 114 runs while his league-leading 120 walks demonstrated how fearful opposing pitchers were of his bat. The next season he led the Phillies to the World Championship while his 48 home runs set the record for most hit by a third baseman.

Schmidt’s 1979 Adirondack MS20 model bat displays outstanding use with a handle crack that has been secured. The barrel shows many ball marks with stitch impressions along with black ink transfers and bat rack paint streaks. The handle has been scored to enhance the grip and the knob end has been stamped with the model number “MS20” and Schmidt’s number “20” has been handwritten in black marker. The Hall of Famer has signed the barrel in bold black marker, completing this perfect Mike Schmidt gamer. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B13474) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9, plus a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication for the signature.
