The Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench Louisville Slugger S216 model bat during the final era of his career, circa 1980-83. The two-time National League MVP spent the first few years of the 1980’s putting the finishing touches on a Hall of Fame career, making All-Star appearances in 1980 and 1983. Bench hit 389 home runs in his Major League career, leading baseball for two seasons, and won a pair of World Series titles with the Big Red Machine. Bench was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989 on his first ballot. Bench’s bat displays excellent game use and is un-cracked. There are ball marks and some checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact present on the barrel. Bench’s number “5” is handwritten on the knob in black marker. The legendary catcher has signed his name in bold blue marker across the barrel. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B14631) for the game use and has been given a very high grade of GU 9. Additionally, there is a LOA from Beckett Authentication for Bench’s signature. Please note that this item was recently authenticated by Beckett Authentication. An LOA will be pictured in this lot when it is received in our office and will be shipped to the winner.
