Presented here is a personal check signed by Pro Football Hall of Famer Bronko Nagurski. Renowned for his strength and speed, Nagurski became a standout playing both tackle on defense and fullback on offense at the University of Minnesota from 1927 to 1929, selected a consensus All-American in 1929 and inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in its inaugural year of 1951. His professional career was with the Chicago Bears, which began in 1930 and ended on two occasions in 1937 and 1943. He was on three NFL Championship winning Bears teams, 1932, 1933 and 1943. Nagurski was an inaugural inductee into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963, one of the first 17 players, along with notables Jim Thorpe, Red Grange, Sammy Baugh, George Halas, Curly Lambeau and Bert Bell. This presented check was drawn from the personal account of Mr. and Mrs. Bronko Nagurski and was made out to a Harry’s Grocery for $56.00 on June 6th, 1980. The check features typical cancellation marks found on checks and was drawn from the International Falls State Bank in International Falls, Minnesota. Nagurski’s signature appears on the check in blue ink. The signature is bold, and the check comes with COA from PSA/DNA (D14464) for the signature.
