If there was a checklist for a Hall of Fame-bound pitcher, Steve Carlton could check every box. In his 24-year career, Carlton was a 10 time All-Star, led his league in strikeouts five times, wins four times and is the second winningest lefthander in history. He is one of just four pitchers to record 4,000 strikeouts and his 329 wins ranks him number 11th of all-time. Perhaps his greatest accomplishment was anchoring the Phillies pitching staff that bought Philadelphia its first World Series title in 1980. Used during that 1908 Championship season, Carlton’s Adirondack 256S model bat displays outstanding use with a handle crack. Slight checking from repeated ball contact is visible on the back barrel as well as many ball marks and scuffs. There are the remains of a coat of pine tar on the handle and Carlton’s number “32” is hand-written on the knob in black marker. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15754) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9.5.
