“Do you believe in miracles? Yes!” Al Michael’s historic call will forever define one of the greatest upsets in sporting history. When the United States Olympic hockey team played the fearsome Red Machine of the USSR, nobody gave Herb Brooks and his scrappy band of college hockey players any chance to advance to the gold medal game. Somehow, the underdog US team emerged with a 4-3 victory, solidifying the greatest upset in hockey history. The gold medal game against Finland was merely a formality, with the US team easily defeating the Finns 4-2.
This ticket was for the gold medal game, held on February 24, 1980. It has been signed by 19 members of the 1980 US Olympic hockey team, including team captain Mike Eruzione, Jim Craig, Neal Broten, Dave Christian, Buzz Schneider, Eric Strobel, Dave Silk, Phil Verchota, Mike Ramsey, Ken Morrow, Bill Baker, Mark Wells, Jack O’Callahan, Steve Janaszak, Rob McClanahan, Mark Pavelich, Mark Johnson, and Steve Christoff.
