In 1980, the Philadelphia Phillies won their first World Series in franchise history. Buoyed by the phenomenal talent of National League MVP Mike Schmidt and NL Cy Young Steve Carlton, the Phillies defeated the Kansas City Royals in a six game World Series in front of over 65,000 fans at Veterans Stadium. With this victory, the Phillies became the last of the “Original Sixteen” franchises to win a World Series.

This Allan H. Selig Official Major League baseball has been signed by 25 members of the 1980 Phillies, with manager Dallas Green signing the sweet spot. He added the inscription “MGR 1980 World Champions”. Other signatures include Hall of Famers Steve Carlton and Mike Schmidt, who inscribed “MVP” beneath his signature. Pete Rose, Manny Trillo, Juan Samuel, Larry Bowa, Larry Christenson, Bake McBride, Warren Brustar, Bob Boone, Greg Luzinski, Garry Maddox, Greg Gross, and several other players have also signed this baseball. The signatures have been written in blue pen. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
