In the midst of his tremendous hitting, one aspect of George Brett’s game was he was also a pretty good fielding third baseman. While he won only a single gold glove award, there were a bunch of really good fielding third basemen during Brett’s tenure. Brett was a primary user of Wilson fielding gloves, and used this exact 1983 Wilson A2000 Model 1440 glove during his career. Likely used during multiple seasons as the wear is commensurate with long term usage, this “I-Web” glove displays heavy use with extensive wear to the heel, pocket and web area, so much in fact the original web needed to be replaced. The name “GEORGE BRETT” is stamped on the inside of the pinky finger, and his player number “5” is written in period, faded black marker at the top of the outer ring finger. On the back of the wrist strap is written “GB 5” also in period marker. This glove likely saw multiple season use by Brett, during a period of time right in the middle of his Hall of Fame career. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, cert number 1G00108.
