Calvin Murphy was winding down his soon-to-be Hall of Fame career during the 1981-82 season. Coming off leading the Houston Rockets to the NBA Finals in 1981, Murphy averaged in double-figures in points (10.2) in 64 games. Murphy would finish his career the following season and retired as the Rockets all-time leading scorer, which was later surpassed by fellow Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon.
Murphy wore this Rawlings size 38 red mesh Houston Rockets jersey during the 1981-82 season. This jersey features “HOUStON” angled across the chest in white tackle twill. Murphy’s number “23” is sewn on below in white tackle twill. The back of the jersey has “MURPHY” arched across the back in white tackle twill above his sewn-on number “23”. The collar and open arms are edged in yellow and white made of a ribbed material. The Rawlings tag is sewn on the bottom front left tail and a white Rawlings flag is sewn on the inside back collar with “38”. This jersey displays moderate use with the white borders on the collar and open arms now a pink color due to bleeding. The stitching on “HOUStON” on the front of the jersey also is pink from bleeding and there are abrasion marks on the “2” on the back of the jersey. This jersey comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
