Michael Ray Richardson is one of the few players in NBA history to lead the league in assists and steals in the same season. In his last season with the New York Knicks, Richardson averaged 17.9 points per game. Richardson spent four seasons with the Knicks before moving on to the Golden State Warriors for half a season, then finishing his career with the New Jersey Nets. Richardson wore this navy blue New York Knicks uniform – jersey and shorts, during his final season with the Knicks during the 1981-82 season.

The jersey is a size 40 and was manufactured by Gerry Cosby Athletic Outfitters of New York, NY. This navy blue mesh jersey has Richardson’s number “20” sewn on in white and red tackle twill with “NEW YORK” sewn on below in red and white tackle twill. The back of the jersey has “RICHARDSON” arched across the back in sewn-on red and white tackle twill and “20” sewn on in white and red tackle twill. The collar and sleeve openings are edged in red and white and the Cosby tag is sewn on the base of the front left tail. The jersey displays good use which could possibly be attributed to a full season.

Also offered in this lot are the matching navy blue mesh shorts. Like the jersey, these size 34 waist shorts were manufactured by Gerry Cosby Athletic Outfitters of New York, NY and have an expandable red/white/red waist band with red/white/red stripes at the base of the legs. An interlocking “NY” is screen-printed in red and white on the lower left thigh and “20” is hand written on one of the three tags sewn on the back of the inner waist. There is a white draw string and these shorts also display moderate use.
