St. Louis Cardinals catcher Gene Tenace wore this blue Cardinals road pullover in 1981. The jersey was originally manufactured for pitching coach Claude Osteen in 1978, with the front number and name on back changed for Tenace. Sleeve numbers were removed before the jersey was issued to the 1972 World Series MVP. Tenace played 124 games for the Cardinals across the 1981 and 1982 MLB seasons. This jersey has the Cardinals “birds on a bat” logo chenille stitched on the chest, with Tenace’s number “18” sewn below in red and navy tackle twill. “TENACE” and his number “18” are sewn on the back of the jersey in red and navy tackle twill. A Rawlings size “42” tag with an attached “Set 1 1978” flag is sewn on the inside tail of the jersey. This jersey shows moderate wear and comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
