New York Yankees coach and former MLB catcher Jeff Torborg wore this gray Yankees road jersey during the 1981 MLB season. Torborg, a 10-year MLB veteran, found himself in numerous historic games during his playing career, including catching Sandy Koufax’s perfect game and Nolan Ryan’s first career no-hitter. Torborg has signed the upper left chest of this button-down jersey in blue pen. The jersey features “NEW YORK” sewn across the chest in navy and white tackle twill, with Torborg’s number “41” sewn on the back of the jersey in the same fashion. A Wilson size “44” tag is sewn on the front left tail, and a “Torborg 81 1” tag is sewn on the back inside collar. The remnants of two adhesive strips are present on the jersey, and there is visual evidence indicating the removal of a memorial armband from the left sleeve. The Yankees donned memorial armbands in 1980 for Thurman Munson, and 1981 in remembrance of Elston Howard. The jersey comes with MEARS (315904) for the game use and has been given a very high grade of A9, plus an LOA from JSA (Z83387).
