In Pat Riley's first year at the helm, Captain Skyhook and Magic were aided by new arrivals Bob McAdoo and Kurt Rambis en route to a 4-2 NBA Finals victory over the 76ers. Manufactured by Balfour, this 10K-gold, size 10 salesman's sample matches the design of that which was bestowed upon Kareem, except with a CZ stone. The inner band is engraved with the ID code, "8541246." EX/EX-MT condition. A Balfour box accompanies. As an interesting side note, the Lakers front office was not pleased with Balfour's trademark cylindrical ring shape seen here (in use since the 1970s) and sought to custom-design their championship rings. But the powers that be at Balfour, who had a longstanding NBA contract behind them, refused. So the Lakers stuck with the Balfour player rings yet ordered their front-office rings through Jostens instead with a completely different, square-shaped, beveled top and more diamonds. This ring comes with a Balfour Ring Box.
