The Vancouver Canucks faced off with the New York Islanders for the 1982 Stanley Cup Finals. For the Canucks it was the first time the franchise reached the finals, but for the Islanders, it was to defend their title. The Islanders had just emerged victorious from a hard-fought playoff, which actually saw the team improving with each round. By the time the Islanders defeated the Nordiques in four straight, they were ready for the finals. Game 1 was a close 6-5 Islanders victory, but just like the playoff, the New Yorkers gained momentum with each win, taking Game 2 6-4, Game 3 3-0 and then winning the fourth and final game 3-1. The victory was the second of what would be three consecutive Stanley Cups for the Islanders, the first and only time that was done by an American-based team.

This is the personal Stanley Cup presented to former scout Harry Boyd of the victorious New York Islanders. The trophy stands 13 inches tall. The front is engraved with “New York Islanders 1981-82” and lists all the owners, staff and players of the championship team, including Boyd’s name. Other notable names include William A. Torrey (President & General Manager), Al Arbour (Head Coach), Denis Potvin (Captain), Mike Bossy, Clark Gillies, Ken Morrow, Bob Nystrom, Bill Smith and Brian Trottier. The trophy shows light tarnishing from age with some minor dings in the black base - otherwise it is in very good condition and presents well. A true piece of hockey history, from one of the greatest dynasties to ever grace the ice of the NHL and it comes with a purchase LOA.
