By 1982, at the age of 41, Pete Rose was still among the top hitters in the National League and well on his way to catching Ty Cobb as the all-time hits leader. During the June 21st, 1982 game in St. Louis as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies, Rose collected his 3,771st hit to tie Hall of Famer Hank Aaron. Rose had two hits in the game for the Phillies, but the Cardinals were victorious 7-5.

This offered road powder blue Philadelphia Phillies uniform set that includes both the jersey and pants, were worn by Rose during the June 21st, 1982 game in which he tied Hank Aaron on the all-time hits list and this set derives from the famed Barry Halper Collection. The size 44 Wilson jersey has a zipper front and the Philadelphia “P” sewn on the upper left chest in maroon and white tackle twill. Rose’s number “14” is sewn on the right chest in the same maroon and white colors. The sides of the jersey have a maroon stripe outlined in white, and the same striping pattern runs vertically from the neck to the sleeve ends. The back of the jersey has “ROSE” sewn on in maroon and white tackle twill on a matching powder blue nameplate with his number “14” sewn on in maroon and white tackle twill below. The inside of the jersey has a blue lining on the collar that runs down both sides of the zipper front and sewn on the inside back collar is a powder blue patch that has “Rose” embroidered in black. The Wilson tag is sewn on the bottom front left tail and below the Wilson tag is a powder blue swatch that has “82 2” in black. Rose signed this jersey on the front below the “P” in black marker and inscribed “To Barry, My Pal Good Luck Pete Rose 6-21-82 3771 Hits”. This jersey displays light to moderate use.

Also included in this lot are the matching Wilson size 33 game pants. Like the jersey, the pants are powder blue with a maroon stripe outlined in white that runs down both sides with a single front button and a zipper. The white inner waist lining has a powder blue swatch that has embroidered in black “Rose 82 1 29” indicating the player, year, set and inseam. The back of the pants has pockets on each side and these pants display moderate use with some staining on the thighs and knees. Rose signed his name vertically in black marker down the front of the right leg. This uniform set is a remarkable piece of history from baseball’s greatest hitter and it comes with a LOA from Sports Investors for the game use and a LOA from JSA for Rose's signatures.
