The 1983-84 North Carolina Tar Heels, led by Hall of Famer Michael Jordan and coach Dean Smith, rolled to an 14-0 undefeated ACC regular season and had only two losses heading into the NCAA tournament. The Tar Heels only loss during the regular season was a one-point defeat to Arkansas and the other loss came in the ACC Tournament Final when they fell 77-75 to arch-rival Duke. Jordan and the Tar Heels advanced to the Sweet 16 before they were upset by Indiana. This would be Jordan’s final season in Chapel Hill as he declared for the NBA Draft and was taken with the third overall pick by the Chicago Bulls.
Offered here is a North Carolina Tar Heels-colored basketball that has been signed by 13 members of the 1983-84 team. The ball has “Happy Birthday Scott! TARHEELS 1982 NATIONAL CHAMPS” on one panel. This ball has been signed in black marker by Michael Jordan, Cecil Exum, Dave Popson, Joe Wolf, Buzz Peterson, Brad Daugherty, Sam Perkins, Curtis Hunter, Warren Martin, Timo Makkonen, Matt Doherty, Kenny Smith and Cliff Morris. This ball comes with a LOA from JSA (X97275).
