Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. capped off his MVP 1983 season by leading the Baltimore Orioles to their last World Series title to-date as the Iron Man was also the American League MVP. Ripken also set the Baltimore Orioles single-season hit record when he finished the season with 211 hits. Ripken recorded his 206th hit, the hit that broke the previous hit record from Al Bumbry in 1980, when he singled to center field off of Detroit Tigers pitcher Milt Wilcox during the September 29th, 1983 game at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore. Offered here is the very Official American League Lee Mac Phail stamped baseball that was hit by Ripken for his 206th hit of the 1983 season. This ball displays outstanding game use with dirt and abrasion marks, along with some toning. The ball has been inscribed on the north panel in blue marker “Hit #206 New Oriole Record 9-29-83 Pitcher Milt Wilcox”. In addition, Cal has recently signed his name across the sweet spot in blue pen. This ball comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA will accompany this baseball.
