Former NFL quarterback Dave Krieg was the epitome of the classic underdog. Coming out of a small college in Wisconsin, Krieg earned a spot as the third string quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks in 1980. Slowly moving up the depth chart, Krieg got his first real opportunity to nail down the number one QB spot with Seattle in 1983. Replacing the struggling Jim Zorn in mid-season, Krieg, along with Curt Warner and Hall of Fame wide receiver Steve Largent, made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history and rode that success all the way to the AFC Championship Game.

This offered blue mesh size 44 Sand-Knit Seattle Seahawks home jersey was issued to Krieg during the 1983 season. This jersey has Krieg’s number “17” screen-printed in white on the front, back and shoulders. “KRIEG” is screen-printed in white on a matching blue mesh nameplate on the back shoulder. Each sleeve has screen-printed blue, green and white stripes with the Seahawks logo in the middle. The v-neck collar has a blue/white/green/white/blue pattern in a ribbed material. The Sand-Knit and “83” tags are sewn on the bottom front left tail and “17” hand written in blue on one of the Sand-Knit tags. This jersey does not display any evidence of game use and comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema. There is also an additional LOA from Mike Allman, Seattle Seahawks Player Personnel Director dated April 1, 1987 stating that this jersey was donated by equipment manager Walt Loeffler.
