Hall of Fame pitcher Gaylord Perry spent his last season in the Majors in 1983. After starting the season with the Seattle Mariners, with whom he had signed for as a free agent to start the 1982 season, Perry was released by the Mariners in late June of 1983. This offered set of a Mariners’ road jersey, dugout jacket and cap were all worn by Perry during the 1983 season before he was released and signed with Kansas City.

The pullover jersey is a powder blue Wilson size 48 that has “Seattle” and “36” sewn on in blue and yellow tackle twill. A powder blue patch is sewn on the front left tail and has “36 83” embroidered in blue. The V-neck collar is blue and the sleeves have vertical blue and yellow adjoining stripes. The back has “PERRY” sewn on in blue tackle twill on a matching powder blue nameplate and his number “36” sewn on in blue and yellow tackle twill. The Wilson size 48 tag is sewn on the inside back collar. The jersey displays light to moderate use and Perry has signed his name on the front in blue marker and inscribed “Best Wishes”.

The next item is a Rawlings X-Large blue Mariners jacket. “Mariners” is sewn on across the chest in yellow and white tackle twill with “M” shaped like a trident. The jacket is a snap-button front with six buttons. The back does not have a name or number and the Rawlings X-Large tag is sewn on the inside back collar. Perry has signed this jacket in black marker on the front.

The final item in this lot is a game used Mariners’ cap. This cap is all blue with the Mariners’ trident logo “M” sewn on the front in blue, yellow and white. The cap was made by New Era and Perry’s number “36” is handwritten in faded blue marker on the green underside brim. The MLB logo tag, New Era tag and an addition faded out tag are sewn on the inner sweatband. Perry has signed his name in gold marker on the front. The jersey, jacket and cap come with a LOA from MEARS (315345) who have given the jersey its highest grade of A10 and authenticated the jacket and cap. The signatures in this lot come with a JSA Auction Letter.
