Former pitcher Jim Kaat began his career in 1959 with the Washington Senators of the American League. His last four seasons from 1980-1983 were spent with the St. Louis Cardinals, where he won his only World Series title with the redbirds in 1982. Kaat’s final season of 1983 saw him exclusively working out of the bullpen, where he earned two saves and a 3.89 ERA.

This size 48 powder blue Rawlings pullover jersey was worn by Kaat during the 1983 season and features “Cardinals” that is sewn across the chest in red and navy cursive script in smooth chenille with a golden bat and two perched Cardinals on each end. Kaat’s number “36” is sewn on the front left center chest in red and navy tackle twill. “KAAT” and his number “36” are sewn on directly to the back of the jersey in red and navy tackle twill. The v-neck collar and sleeve ends are capped with a ribbed navy white and red material. The red Rawlings tag is sewn on the inside front left tail, along with the “SET 1 1983” flag. The jersey shows moderate wear with some minor stains. This jersey comes with a LOA from MEARS (315766), who have graded this jersey a perfect A10. Additionally, there is a LOA from Howard Perch, who was a batting practice pitcher for the Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates and in his LOA states that he received jersey through his connections and friendships he had established.
