Luke Appling may not be the most recognizable name in baseball history, but his 20-year career with the Chicago White Sox was certainly memorable. With over 2,700 hits and a lifetime .310 BA, Appling’s ticket to the Hall of Fame was punched in 1964. Post-retirement, he served as a coach for many teams, including in 1984 when he held a coaching position with the Atlanta Braves. This blue Majestic batting practice jersey has Braves sewn across the front, Appling 74 on the back. Also included is a light blue pair of Wilson uniform pants, size 40, with 74 handwritten on the tag, alongside a strip tag reading “25 84”. Capping off the uniform, so to speak, is a New Era size 7 ¼ cap with “(74) LA” handwritten on the underside of the bill. All 3 pieces show moderate to heavy wear and some minor staining. Uniform is accompanied by a MEARS LOA, showing a Final Grade of Authentic.
