Hall of Fame defensive back Rod Woodson wore this Purdue Boilermakers home jersey on October 6th, 1984, against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Woodson, in his sophomore season, recorded a fourth quarter interception that he returned for a 55-yard touchdown to push the score to 28-17 in the Boilermakers eventual 28-24 victory. This was a huge upset, as the Buckeyes would go on to win the Big 10 Championship and were the second ranked team in the country at the time. The Boilermakers also defeated Notre Dame and Michigan in the 1984 season, marking the first time Purdue had defeated the three traditional powerhouse programs in the same season. Woodson would go on to play two more seasons at Purdue before embarking on a 17-year, Hall of Fame NFL career.
This black mesh home jersey has “PURDUE” screen printed across the chest in white text. Woodson’s number “26” is screen printed on the chest, back, and shoulders in white and gold. A white and gold band accents the collar and sleeves. A Rawlings size “44” tag is sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. This jersey has been photo matched to the October 6th, 1984 game at Ross-Ade Stadium by Resolution Photomatching.
