Detroit Tigers relief pitcher and one-time All-Star Sid Monge wore this jersey in 1984. The Tigers won the World Series that year, with midseason acquisition Monge appearing in 19 games. This would be Monge’s final MLB season, as the Mexican reliever hung up his spikes on the highest possible note.
This white Tigers home jersey features the Tigers’ Old English “D” logo sewn in navy blue tackle twill over the left breast. “MONGE” is sewn in navy blue tackle twill across the back shoulders above a similarly colored tackle twill “42”. Navy blue piping runs parallel to the buttons on the front of this jersey and around the collar. A Wilson size “42” tag is sewn on the inside back collar, while “84 1” and “2” tags are sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. Monge signed the “2” digit in silver marker, adding the inscription “Game Used” and “1984 W.S. Champs!!” Also included is a Detroit Tigers cap worn by Monge. He signed the brim “Game Used World Champs!!” These items come with a LOA from Sid Monge himself.
