Before Michael Jordan came along, Julius Erving was the face of the NBA. From his beginning with the rebel ABA in the early 1970’s through his glory days with the Nets and Sixers, “Dr. J” left a trail of NBA records and stats that made him one of the game’s greatest players. After winning three ABA MVP Awards in the 1970’s, Dr. J switched to the NBA and won that league’s award in 1981 - the only player to do that in both leagues.

By the time he hung up his sneakers in 1987, Dr. J had scored 30,026 points, still number 6 on the NBA’s all-time career list. This Philadelphia 76ers road jersey was worn by the NBA legend in penultimate season of 1985-1986 season. This red mesh jersey was manufactured by Wilson and is a size 42. The front of the jersey features “SIXERS” and Dr. J’s number “6” sewn on in white and blue tackle twill. The back of the jersey has “ERVING” sewn on in white tackle twill above the number “6”, which is sewn on in red and blue tackle twill. The “Wilson” and “PEARSON SPORTING GOODS” tags are sewn on the bottom front left tail with a red patch that has “85” in white, making it a rare triple-tagged exemplar. Pearson Sporting Goods was a local supplier to the 76ers in that era. The open sleeves and collar have blue, white and red striping pattern made of a ribbed material. The jersey displays moderate wear with the white tackle twill displaying toning and various dark stains on the front and back. This jersey comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
