An integral component to the New York Mets 1986 World Series Champion team, Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter was already a bona fide seven-time All-Star and 11-year veteran when he was traded to the Mets prior to the 1985 season. Carter was the first National League catcher to win two Silver Slugger Awards honored back-to-back in 1981 and 1982. He later became the first catcher to win the Silver Slugger Award three, four and five times in consecutive seasons with the Mets from 1985-1987 when he was also presented with this Rawlings Big Stick Award. This authentic award presented to Carter contains three 34” Gary Carter model Rawlings/Adirondack Big Stick bats mounted in tripod fashion on top of wooden home plate containing a 3.5” x 5.5” brass name plate reading: “Presented to Gary Carter New York Mets for Outstanding Hitting Achievements. A “Rawlings Big Stick Award” name plate is also affixed to the three bat handles bolted together at the apex of the tripod display. Comes from his widow with a LOA from his marketing representative.
