Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Thomas “Hitman” Hearns contested one of the most exciting fights in boxing history in 1985. This bout, billed as “The War”, saw the champion Hagler defend his middleweight championship against the younger boxer from Detroit. Although this fight only went three rounds, it was an electric and ferocious battle, with Hagler knocking Hearns out near the end of the third round.
