Featuring a starting lineup that included stars Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and James Worthy, the 1984-85 Los Angeles Lakers finished the regular season with 62 wins, tops in the Western Conference and just one win behind the Boston Celtics for the most victories in the NBA. Abdul-Jabbar averaged a team-high 22.0 points per game, Johnson recorded 18.3 points and 12.6 assists per contest, while Worthy posted 17.6 PPG. Off the bench, Bob McAdoo scored 10.5 PPG. The Lakers stormed through the Western Conference playoffs, with series victories over the Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets to reach the NBA Finals. In a matchup between the top two teams in the league, the Lakers defeated the Celtics, four games to two, to win the championship.
Offered here is a Josten’s 14K gold 1985 Los Angeles Lakers NBA championship front office ring. Featuring a deep purple colored stone, a depiction of a diamond-filled NBA championship trophy – complete with a larger round diamond representing a basketball – highlights the ring’s face. “LOS ANGELES LAKERS WORLD CHAMPIONS” reads around the bezel setting in relief lettering. A purple enamel-filled Lakers logo centers one side, with “PURPLE REIGN” at the top and “LA 4 BOS 2” at the bottom. The other side of the ring displays the name “HARRIS” above the NBA league logo – highlighted in purple – and the year 1985.
