Abdul-Jabbar averaged a team-high 22.0 points per game, Johnson recorded 18.3 points and 12.6 assists per contest, while Worthy posted 17.6 PPG. Off the bench, Bob McAdoo scored 10.5 PPG. The Lakers stormed through the Western Conference playoffs, with series victories over the Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets to reach the NBA Finals. In a matchup between the top two teams in the league, the Lakers defeated the Celtics, four games to two, to win the championship.
