Offered in this lot are a pair of player-issued Air Jordan I sneakers signed by Michael Jordan that comes directly from the personal collection of George Koehler, who is a long-time associate of Michael Jordan dating back to when Jordan joined the Bulls in 1984, having originally been his limousine driver, then his personal assistant and friend. Koehler was also part in the popular ESPN documentary The Last Dance. Issued to “His Airness” in 1985, these white, black, and red sneakers are responsible for kickstarting the global sneakers craze still burning brightly today. Jordan’s tenacious play and otherworldly scoring were highlighted by this unique and colorful footwear, inspiring envy and respect in equal measure across the NBA. This pair of sneakers features a black Nike swoosh sewn on both sides of the shoes, while an Air Jordan “Wings” logo is applied to both heels. The left shoe is a size 13 and the right shoe is a size 13 1/2 with the manufacturer's code "850204". Jordan has signed the upper heel of both sneakers in black marker. The shoes come with a LOA from George Koehler, who states in his LOA that this item came directly from his personal collection and was received directly from Michael Jordan and individual Upper Deck Certificates of Authenticity (BAF02120 & BAF02121) and a set of white laces.
