Phillies Hall of Fame third baseman Mike Schmidt was a dominant force during his 18-year Major League career, which included a World Series title and MVP in 1980. An eight-time home run champion, Schmidt posted an average of .277 with 33 home runs and 93 RBI during the 1985 season. “Schmitty” used this Rawlings PRO 1-HF first baseman’s glove during the 1985 season. At the age of 35, Schmidt was asked to move to first base for the first time in his career, save for two games in 1984. Schmidt held first base for 106 of the 161 games he appeared in.

This Rawlings PRO 1-HF model fielder's glove shows outstanding game use with the fingertips showing appropriate scuffing as does the outside leather surfaces. The pocket is well-worn and has darked from use and the insides shows perspiration staining. The red and white Rawlings label is still intact and “MADDOG” has been handwritten in faded black marker on the outside webbing, indicating that Schmidt may have gotten this glove from a teammate. Schmidt has signed the outer thumb in faded black marker and inscribed “20” below his name. This glove comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA for the game use and a LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.
