The 1985 St. Louis Cardinals won 101 games as they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS in six games thanks in large part to an unlikely power source of Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith, whose dramatic walk-off home run in Game 5 turned the series in the Cardinals’ favor. The Cardinals lost to cross-state rivals the Kansas City Royals in seven games of the 1985 World Series.
