Hall of Fame center Robert Parish wore this warm up jacket and pants combination during the 1986-87 NBA season as a member of the Boston Celtics. Parish was an All-Star in 86-87, playing a career-high 37.4 minutes per game and averaging a double-double 17.5 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Along with Larry Bird and Kevin McHale, “The Chief” helped lead the Celtics to an NBA Finals matchup against their bitter rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers. Although the Celtics lost the Finals in six games, Parish was a stud in the playoffs, dropping 18 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. Parish, deemed one of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players during the Association’s 50th anniversary celebrations, retired after the 96-97 season as the all-time leader in regular season games played.
This warm up jacket is a green, short sleeved button down jacket used before road games during the 1986-87 season. “CELTICS” is screen printed across the front in white and yellow, with twin shamrocks screen printed in a similar style on the sleeves. A NBA logo patch is sewn on the right chest area. Two Sand-Knit tags are sewn on the back inside collar, although the size “46” tag is semi-detached. “PARISH” is sewn on the back in green tackle twill on a white nameplate. Parish signed his name on the nameplate in blue marker. His signature is accompanied by a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (C03613). Also included are Parish’s warm up pants for the 1986-87 season. These pants feature snap away buttons down the side, which features a white and yellow stripe. A NBA logo patch is sewn on the top of the right leg. These pants have a Sand-Knit tag, a Sand-Knit size “36” tag, and a “2 ‘HR 40’ IN” tag sewn on the back inside waistband. Parish’s number “00” is written on the first Sand-Knit tag in black marker. The jacket and pants come with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
