Wonderful Louisville Slugger dating from Mark McGwire’s first couple of seasons as a major leaguer. After playing a few games for Oakland in 1986, McGwire burst into his own in his first full season in 1987 by leading the American League with 49 home runs, being selected for the All-Star Team and winning the coveted Rookie of the Year Award. This un-broken 34”, 31oz Louisville Slugger R161 exhibits all the signs of use a budding home run champion would put his bat through: ball marks with blue ink transfers, stitch impressions and paint streaks from contact with other bats. The handle sports a light coat of pine tar and the knob is marked with McGwire’s number “25” in black marker. PSA/DNA letter of authenticity.
