Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn used this Louisville Slugger C263 Flame Burned ash bat during the 1986-89 seasons with the San Diego Padres. Gwynn won three consecutive batting titles during this era from 1987-89. This bat displays outstanding use with a crack on the handle and a small chip on the knob. There are ball marks, stitch impressions, cleat imprints and white leather scuffs present on the barrel. The handle has been taped in spiral pattern to enhance the grip and the handle also has a moderate coating of pine tar. Gwynn’s number “19” is handwritten on the knob in black marker and in the cupped barrel end in silver marker. Gwynn has signed this bat in blue marker on the barrel and inscribed “N.L. Batting Champion 1984, 87, 88 & 89”. The bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B19294) for the game use and has been given a high grade of GU 8.5. Additionally, there is a LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature. Please note that this item was recently authenticated by Beckett Authentication. An LOA will be pictured in this lot when it is received in our office and will be shipped to the winner.
