Winter 2014 Auction Closing Feb 7

No player in recent times struck more fear in the heart of opposing pitchers than did Barry Bonds. Major League Baseball's all-time home runs leader with 762 round-trippers, Bonds set a standard for the long ball which may never be reached again. Bonds showed his penchant for power immediately, connecting for 16 homers his rookie year. Bonds broke into the league in 1986, when he wore this gray game used Pittsburgh Pirates pullover road jersey. The jersey features "PIRATES" across the chest, "BONDS" across the back on a gray name plate and his number "7" on both sides, all in black-on-yellow tackle twill. Before switching to his customary No. 24 to honor his godfather Willie Mays, Bonds wore No. 7 for most of his rookie season. The front tail of the jersey features a "Wilson" manufacturer's tag with an affixed white tag that reads "42" for the jersey's size. A gray strip tag to the left reads "86" in black stitching, indicating the jersey's year. The jersey shows light evidence of game use and comes with an LOA from MEARS, grading at A10. This jersey is one of the greatest rookie player jerseys to come up in auction in quite some time, with authentication and grading at the highest possible grade.
