Former pitcher Dave Stewart compiled 168-129 record over 16 years in the Major Leagues with five different teams. Best known for being the ace of the great Oakland A’s teams of the late 1980s, Stewart would ultimately win three World Series titles with three different teams (1981 Dodgers, 1989 A’s & 1993 Blue Jays).
Offered here is a rare jersey worn by Stewart during the 1986 season when he played for the Philadelphia Phillies until he was released by the club on May 9th. Stewart would sign with Oakland in late May. This powder blue road jersey was made by Wilson and has a zipper-down front. The 1970’s/80’s-style “P” is sewn on the upper left chest in maroon and white tackle twill. Stewart’s number “38” is sewn on the upper right chest in maroon and white tackle twill. The Wilson tag along with a matching powder blue tag that has “86 2” in black is sewn on the front left tail. The back has “STEWART” sewn on in maroon and white tackle twill on a matching powder blue nameplate from a team instituted name change which is above his number “38” that is sewn on in maroon and white tackle twill. The sleeves and sides have a vertical maroon stripe with white borders and the left sleeve has an era-correct Phillies logo patch. The inside collar has the name “Olander” printed in black embroidery on a powder blue tag. This jersey displays moderate use and Stewart has signed this jersey in black marker between his name and number on the back and inscribed “#38”. This comes with a LOA from MEARS for the game use and have graded this jersey an A9, plus a LOA from JSA for the signature.
