California Angels shortstop Dick Schofield wore this uniform set during the 1986 American League Championship Series. Schofield’s Angels fell in an extremely competitive seven game series to the Boston Red Sox, who would go on to lose to the New York Mets in a memorable World Series. Although the Angels lost the series, Schofield performed admirably, playing in every game while maintaining a .300 batting average for the series. He homered once, knocked in two RBI, and scored four runs for the California ballclub. His seventh inning solo home run in Game 3, a 5-3 home victory, broke a 1-1 tie and helped the Angels go up two games to one in the series.

Schofield had the best season of his career in 1986, setting career highs in home runs (13) and RBI (57). The Angels won the American League West Division in ’86, finishing with a record of 92-70. The son of 1960 World Series champion Dick “Ducky” Schofield Sr., Schofield Jr. played 14 seasons in the Majors, with 12 of those campaigns spent with the Angels.

Included in this collection are Schofield Jr.’s ALCS worn cap, jersey, pants, and stirrups. The jersey is a white pullover shirt with “Angels” sewn across the front in red and navy blue tackle twill. A gold and navy halo is sewn over the “A”. Schofield’s number “22” is sewn on the front and back of the jersey in red and navy tackle twill. “SCHOFIELD” is sewn across the back shoulders in red and navy tackle twill. A circular Angels logo patch is sewn on the right sleeve. The sleeve and collar openings are ringed with a navy blue and red band. Wilson and “86” tags are sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. A size “42” flag is attached to the Wilson tag. This crisp white jersey shows moderate signs of game use.

The cap is navy blue, with a red brim. An Angels “A” logo graces the front of this size 7 ¼ New Era ball cap. Schofield’s number “22” is written on the underside of the brim in black pen. The pants are in the sansabelt style of the era. The thick waistband is navy and red, and a navy and red stripe runs down each leg. The waistband features two navy buttons on the outside and two white drawstrings on the inside. On the back inside waistband area are a “56 83 25” tag and Wilson size “32” tag. A “Tapered” flag is attached to the Wilson tag. Finally, two red sanitary stirrups are included. “SCHO” is written on each stirrup in black marker. This uniform set comes with a LOA from Ducky Schofield.
