Presented is a first edition of singer/actress Michelle Phillips memoir, “California Dreamin,” with a inscription on the front end-paper, “To Ivana + Donald Happy Holidays Michelle Phillips.” Phillips’ autograph and inscription are in black felt-tip marker. The 1986 hardcover from Warner Books is Phillips’ version of “The Music. The Madness. The Magic That Was California Dreamin’, The True Story of the Mamas and The Papas.” A native of California, Michelle met and married John Phillips in San Francisco as a teenager, and they went on to co-found the vocal group The Mamas & The Papas in 1965. The band rose to fame with their popular singles “California Dreamin’” and “Creeque Alley,” both of which she co-wrote. They released five studio albums before their dissolution in 1970. Phillips is the last surviving member of the group. This is the original dust jacket given to now-President Trump and his first wife, Ivana, in 1986. This book is accompanied by a COA from PSA/DNA (AC83596).
