After 18 seasons with 536 HR, three MVP awards, two batting titles, a Triple Crown, a race to beat Babe Ruth, setting the records, receiving the accolades and acknowledging the applause, Mickey Charles Mantle could finally do what every retired Major Leaguer could do and that was to participate in Old Timers Games. After his playing days were through Mantle continued to remain one of the most high-profile members of the New York Yankees legion of living legends.

That was still the case in 1986 when Mantle again donned the pinstripes for the annual Old Timers’ Day festivities at Yankee Stadium on July 19, 1986. Mantle wore this classic Yankees’ white with navy pinstriped jersey during the 1986 Old Timers Day. This jersey has been conclusively photo matched by Resolution Photomatching to the July 19, 1986 event.

This Wilson size 44 button-down jersey has the classic interlocking “NY” sewn on the upper chest in navy tackle twill.  There is an off-white inner lining around the collar and down the buttons, with a white patch sewn on the inside back collar that has embroidered in black “Mantle 86 1”. The back of this jersey has Mantle’s iconic number “7” sewn on in navy tackle twill and the left sleeve has remnants of the black armband that was worn by the Yankees in 1986 for Roger Maris, who passed away in December of 1985. Adding to this already outstanding item is Mantle’s signature in black marker on the upper right chest with the inscription “To Mark, Best Wishes. A tremendous post-career worn and signed Mantle jersey. This jersey comes with a LOA from Resolution Photomatching (426425), who have photo matched this jersey being worn by Mantle during the July 19, 1986 Old Timer’s Day at Yankee Stadium and a LOA from Beckett Authentication for Mantle’s signature.
