The 1986 mid-summer classic marked Philadelphia Phillies Hall of Fame slugger Mike Schmidt’s 10th All-Star game appearance, en route to his third NL MVP Award. Schmidt went 0-1 with two walks in the National League’s 3-2 loss to the AL in a game made otherwise noteworthy by Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Fernando Valenzuela’s five consecutive strikeouts of the AL’s best stars. Made for use in the 1986 All-Star Game, Schmidt’s Rawlings 154A model bat shows outstanding use with a crack on the barrel that has been secured. Slight checking from repeated ball contact is found on the back barrel and many ball marks are visible. Cleat imprints are found on the barrel and the handle has a moderate coat of pine tar. The model number “154A” and Schmidt’s initials “MS” are stamped into the knob and the weight “32” written in black ink. Schmidt’s number “20” is on the knob in faded black marker and the Hall of Famer has signed the barrel in blue marker with his number “20.” The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15112) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9, plus a STICKER ONLY From PSA/DNA (AD75000) for the signature.
