After a year of playing out of position at first base, 1986 saw Mike Schmidt back home at third base. The Phillies star responded to the familiar surroundings by having one of his greatest offensive seasons, slamming a league-leading 37 home runs and 119 runs batted in. Schmidt also led the league in slugging and took home the Silver Slugger Award, a Gold Glove Award for his fielding and was voted to the All-Star Game. By the time the season ended, Schmidt was just a few home runs shy of the 500 Home Run Club, a goal he reached during the first month of the 1987 season. Schmidt’s 1986 stats earned him his third and final NL MVP Award, something no other third baseman had done before or since.

This offered Philadelphia Phillies Wilson home white with maroon pinstripes jersey with a zipper down the middle, shows heavy game use and was worn by Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt during his MVP 1986 season. This incredible gamer features the Phillies “P” on the upper left chest and Schmidt’s number “20” on the right chest sewn on in maroon tackle twill. The Wilson tag and the size 44 flag are sewn on the bottom front left tail, along with the team strip tag that reads “86 1”. The sleeves have a one-inch vertical maroon stripe running from the collar down to each sleeve end. The left sleeve has a circular “Philadelphia Phillies” logo patch featuring Independence Hall. The back of the jersey has “SCHMIDT” sewn on in maroon tackle twill on a white nameplate with the number “20” sewn on in maroon tackle twill below. The inside collar and zipper front have an off-white lining and on the inside collar is a patch that has “Schmidt” embroidered in black. Schmidt has signed his name in blue marker on the upper right chest above his number and inscribed “1986”. This jersey displays outstanding game use with numerous dirt stains and spots throughout. This jersey comes with a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication for the game use and a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A56146) for Schmidt’s signature.
