The Super Major Series was a biennial all-star tournament pitting a team of Major League Baseball stars against a team made up of their Japanese counterparts. The first such series took place in 1986, with the United States achieving a 6-1 series victory and Tony Pena receiving MVP honors.

     This ball has been signed by 26 members of Team USA, with manager Davey Johnson signing the sweet spot of this Official Super Major Series ’86 ball. Hall of Famers Ryne Sandberg, Cal Ripken Jr., Tony Gwynn, and Ozzie Smith also signed this ball. Other signatures include Mel Stottlemyre, Bobby Valentin, Dale Murphy, Jeff Reardon, Brook Jacoby, Willie Hernandez, Jesse Barfield, Jack Morris, Tony Pena, Teddy Higuera, Wally Joyner, Mike Witt, Buddy Bell, Frank White, Mike Scott, Von Hayes, John Franco, Greg Harris, Rick Rhoden, and several more.
