Hall of Fame point guard Magic Johnson wore this yellow Los Angeles Lakers home jersey during the 1987-88 NBA season. Magic had another incredible season in 1987-88, scoring 19.6 points per game to go with 11.9 assists and 6.2 rebounds per contest. The Lakers, in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s penultimate season, won the 1988 NBA title over the Detroit Pistons. “Showtime” triumphed over “The Bad Boys” in a seven-game series, with James Worthy winning the Finals MVP award.
This jersey is yellow, with Magic’s number “32” sewn on the chest and back in purple and white tackle twill. “LAKERS” is sewn on the chest in purple and white tackle twill. “JOHNSON” is sewn across the back shoulders in purple and white tackle twill. A NBA logo patch is sewn on the left chest. The sleeve and collar openings are accented with a white-purple-white band. Numerous tags are sewn on the front left tail, including a Sand-Knit size “44” tag, an “87” tag, a “2[inch] LB” tag, a Lakers tag, and a blank swatch. This jersey shows light to moderate wear and comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema, who states that “this is the best Magic Johnson Jersey I’ve ever seen in terms of obvious game wear.”
