The future 500 home run club member was named to his first career All-Star team in 1988, hitting .307 with eight homers, 53 RBI, 41 doubles, and more walks than strikeouts. A three-time Gold Glove winner, Palmeiro finished his career with 3,020 hits, 569 homers, and a .288 batting average.
