In 1987, Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Sugar Ray Leonard contested one of the most exciting fights in boxing history, known as “The Super Fight”. Returning from a three year absence from the ring, Leonard was a heavy underdog against Hagler. The fight went the distance, with an exhausted Leonard named the victor in a contentious split-decision from the judges.
This black, size “XL” jacket was a promotional item for the fight, and it has been signed by longtime boxing trainer Angelo Dundee. A legendary trainer, Dundee trained Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, George Foreman, and more. He signed this jacket in silver marker, adding the inscription “Ray wins Super / I was there” to his signature. This item comes with a LOA from the Dundee family and a COA from JSA (S21471) for the signature.
