Led by a potent offense that recorded a very impressive .298 overall team batting average, the 1987 Denver Zephyrs – the AAA American Association League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers – finished the season with a league-best 79-61 record, one game ahead of the Louisville Redbirds. The Zephyrs featured one big bat after another, including Steve Kiefer (.330 average, 31 home runs), Joey Meyer (.311, 29 HR), Brad Komminsk (.298, 32 HR), Steve Stanicek (.352, 25 HR) and Billy Bates (.316, 51 stolen bases). Dave Stapleton led the pitching staff with an 11-3 record.
Presented here is a 1987 Denver Zephyrs American Association championship ring, featuring a large green stone with the name “ZEPHYRS” across the center. “AMERICAN ASSOCIATION LEAGUE CHAMPIONS” reads around the bezel setting. The left shank of the ring displays the team logo with the name “BARNES” at the top and the number 10 at the bottom. Appearing on the opposite shank are the year 1987, the team’s win-loss record, and the Milwaukee Brewers team logo. On the inside of the band of this gold-plated ring is the mark “LGB GTC”, signifying the manufacturer Balfour and non-gold metal. The ring is approximately a size 9 and it weighs an approximate 28.2 grams. This ring is accompanied by the consignor's purchase LOA and a Balfour ring box.
