Right-handed pitcher Greg Maddux earned his stripes for the Hall of Fame for his 355 wins over 23 years. He won 20 games only once but earned four consecutive Cy Young Awards from 1992-1995 with the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves. In addition to his rubber arm, “The Professor” earned 13 consecutive Gold Gloves and 18 overall for his deft fielding from the mound.
Offered here is Maddux’s Iowa Cubs road jersey worn during the 1987 season. Maddux has a 3-0 record for the AAA Cubs with a miniscule 0.98 ERA in four appearances totaling 27.2 innings before his callup to the Majors in 1987. This blue pullover jersey was manufactured by Wilson and features the Cubs circle “C” logo patch sewn on the upper left chest. The Wilson tag with the “40” flag is sewn on the bottom front left tail. The V-neck collar and sleeve ends have a ribbed material with red and white stripes. Maddux’s number “2” is sewn on the back in red and white tackle twill. The Cubs walking bear logo patch is sewn on the left sleeve. Maddux has signed this jersey in silver marker on the front of this jersey below the Cubs’ logo. This jersey comes with a LOA from the Iowa Cubs and a LOA from MEARS for the game use, who have graded this jersey a perfect A10. Additionally, there is a LOA from PSA/DNA (AG04281) for his signature.
