Who else but Keith Hernandez deserved the title of "Toast of the Town" in 1987? Starting with his arrival in 1983 the first baseman almost single-handedly dragged the Mets out of the second division and with in three years brought a World Championship to New York. When this award was handed out by the New York Baseball Writers in 1987, Keith Hernandez was indeed the Toast of the Town. The 11" x 13" award is a classy glass and mirror combination with an inset engraved plaque that reads "The Joe DiMaggio Toast of the Town Award Keith Hernandez New York Baseball Writers 1987". The award is in good condition with some surface scuffs and scratches from storage and age. A great piece that brings back all the excitement and energy of that historical 1986 summer.
