The 1986-87 season proved to be one of Magic Johnson’s finest. In his eighth NBA season, Johnson won his first MVP Award by averaging 23.9 points per game along with 12.2 assists and 6.3 rebounds. For the third time, the Los Angeles Lakers met their all-time arch-rival the Boston Celtic in the Finals. One of the highlights of Magic’s Hall of Fame career came in Game 4 when his last seconds hook shot won the game for LA. That game winning shot forever dubbed “Baby Sky Hook” and his averaging 26.2 points a game led to his third Finals MVP Award.
Johnson’s 1986-87 yellow, purple and white Converse sneakers have “MAGIC” printed on both outside ankles and Converse All-Star labels on each tongue. The white soles show great use with overall toning from use and age, while the leather uppers display much scuffing and abrasions from hard use. The laces are present, though they may not be original to the sneakers due to their brighter appearance. The pair stands in stark contrast to modern day “game used” sneakers in that are only worn once or twice – these look like Magic wore them during many a Lakers game.
