The Tidewater Tides - the New York Mets’ AAA affiliate of the International League - ended the 1987 season with 81 wins, first in the league. Randy Milligan was a one-man wrecking crew, batting .326 with 29 home runs, 103 RBIs and 99 runs scored in 457 at-bats. Kevin Elster hit .310 with 74 RBI and 83 runs scored. The pitching staff featured appearances by young pitching stars Dwight Gooden, David Cone and Rick Aguilera. Offered here is a 1987 Tidewater Tides International League ring that was presented to Elster, who went on to play seven seasons with the Mets.
This Balfour 10K gold ring features a large blue colored stone with the Mets “NY” logo, as “TIDEWATER INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE 1987” appears in relief work. One side features an enamel-filled Tides logo, with “ELSTER” above and “69-75-87” below. A Mets team logo centers the opposite side, with vertical team-colored enamel stripes running behind it. “NEW YORK” reads at the top. The inside of the band is stamped “LGB 10K”. This ring is an approximate size 10 ½ and weighs approximately 32.9 grams. This ring comes with a LOA from Kevin Elster.
